Ever since Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban announced they were splitting up, the rumors about what caused the couple to separate have been swirling. There have been reports that the two were having issues for a while, and that Urban was the one who made the decision to separate. Allegedly, Urban had already moved on, as well. Some even pointed to guitarist Maggie Baugh as his new flame.
But now, Woman’s Day magazine (per the Daily Mail) is reporting Urban might be having second thoughts. “He’s got to pay the bills – and divorce lawyers don’t come cheap,” a source told the magazine about the fact that the divorce settlement won’t come cheap for Urban.
“It’s a lonely existence for Keith right now – he’s exhausted, isolated and looking at a future he never imagined,” the source added, explaining that “He’s also lost his best friend, Nicole, who was also his greatest supporter in life and he’s wondering if he’s made a huge mistake.”
Urban recently made headlines after performing in private for members of US President Donald Trump’s inner circle. The singer, whose new competition show with Blake Shelton is airing on CBS, ended the November 30th episode with a performance of his song “Messed Up as Me,” from his album High. The album came out in September 2024.
The song describes someone calling in a former lover, and hoping they’re as ‘messed up as me’. The actor spoke about the song last year, writing on Instagram, “This song is about a relationship … should we call it a relationship ??? We’re calling it a relationship. It’s about two people who know they aren’t good for each other.”
“It’s dysfunctional, makes no sense, it might even be toxic, but they keep going back because there’s one thing they’re REALLY good at !!!” he explained then.
A sign of what was about to come?
The singer might be struggling, but reports indicate Kidman is moving on and not at all interested in getting back together with her ex. “She’s surprisingly level-headed and calm. Now that it’s out she’s just focused on what’s ahead and her girls.”
Not just that, there are rumors she might also end up following Urban’s example and finding herself a new love. “Nicole’s friends are telling her that the best thing she can do for herself is to start having fun again,” a source told the National Enquirer. “And Lenny seems like the perfect person to help her do that!” The outlet said about Kidman’s ex, singer Lenny Kravitz.
“By all accounts the red-hot chemistry they had has never gone away. It just makes sense to give it another whirl,” the source said. “Who knows where it could lead? Maybe at this stage in life things could work out for them long-term.” Kidman and Kravitz were briefly engaged in 2003, but broke up soon after with Kidman saying the two weren’t ready. Before Kravitz, Kidman was married to Tom Cruise from 1990 to 2001. They share daughter Isabella Jane and son Connor Antony.
Kidman also shares two daughters with Keith Urban, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
