Dolly Parton’s Sister Freida Asks Fans to Pray for the Country Legend Amid Health Challenges
Dolly Parton’s sister, Freida Parton, took to Facebook on Tuesday to ask fans around the world to lift the country icon in prayer — just one week after Dolly announced she would be postponing her Las Vegas residency due to upcoming medical procedures.
“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,” Freida wrote. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately.”
She continued with an emotional plea to fans and fellow believers:
“I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been led to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.
She’s strong, she’s loved, and with all the prayers being lifted for her, I know in my heart she’s going to be just fine.
Godspeed, my sissy Dolly. We all love you!”
On September 28, Parton addressed fans directly in a social media post, confirming that she would need to postpone her Las Vegas shows scheduled at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace later this year.
“I want the fans and public to hear directly from me that, unfortunately, I will need to postpone my upcoming Las Vegas concerts,” she wrote.
“As many of you know, I have been dealing with some health challenges, and my doctors tell me that I must have a few procedures.”
In her trademark humor, the 79-year-old legend joked:
“As I told them, it must be time for my 100,000-mile check-up — although it’s not the usual trip to see my plastic surgeon.”
Still, she assured fans that her health comes first and that she wouldn’t perform unless she could give her very best:
“You pay good money to see me perform, and I want to be at my best for you.”
Parton explained that while she’ll continue working on projects from her home in Nashville, she needs some time to recover before getting “show ready.”
“Don’t worry about me quittin’ the business,” she added. “God hasn’t said anything about stopping yet.
He’s just telling me to slow down right now so I can be ready for more big adventures with all of you.”
Her postponed concerts are expected to be rescheduled for September 2026.
Health Scares and Recent Loss
Earlier this year, Parton also missed an appearance at Dollywood for the grand opening of a new roller coaster after suffering a kidney stone and infection that required rest.
“The doctor said, ‘You don’t need to be traveling right this minute,’ so I needed a few days to get better,” she explained in a video message to park visitors.
Fans have also been aware that 2025 has been an especially emotional year for Dolly, following the death of her husband, Carl Thomas Dean, in March.
The two were married for nearly 60 years, and Parton has spoken publicly about how faith and family have helped her through the loss.
A Community of Support
Following Freida’s heartfelt post, thousands of fans responded online with messages of love, faith, and encouragement for the beloved singer.
Many echoed Freida’s belief in Dolly’s resilience and strength, calling her “a national treasure” and “the heart of country music.”
As one fan wrote, “If prayer moves mountains, then the world’s about to move one for Dolly.”
While Dolly focuses on her recovery, one thing is clear — she remains surrounded by the same love, faith, and spirit she’s shared with her fans for more than six decades.
