US President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump only have one kid together, Barron Trump. Trump, however, has four more kids from his first two marriages. Melania Trump recently discussed this very subject with Fox News’ Ainsley Earhardt, saying, “I was always perfectly fine with one. Donald was encouraging to have more, and I said, I’m completely fine with one because it’s a very busy life, and I know how busy he is, and I’m in charge of everything, so…”
“That’s why, it’s just perfect,” the first lady added. And this was long before Trump even started his political career, so it seems like first lady Melania Trump was always very clear about what she wanted for her family.
Barron Trump, the youngest of the Trump family, who attended his first year of college at New York University’s Greenwich Village campus, is now closer to his parents, according to People. He is said to be “doing a semester” in Washington instead of at NYU’s main campus, and reportedly living in the White House while doing so.
His father, Donald Trump, confirmed this during a November 2025 interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham to discuss the ongoing White House renovations. “He’s right upstairs,” he said about Barron, adding,” He’s doing a good job.”
During that conversation, the President also spoke about Barron’s attention to detail as he discussed the renovations. “Barron’s going to be tremendous at that,” adding, “He’s very meticulous.”
People also reported recently that first lady Melania is very involved with her son’s life. “Melania watches Barron constantly in an effort to be sure nobody messes with him or bullies him, as this is a constant worry with her,” a source told the outlet. “She always knows where he is and what he’s doing.”
There have been numerous recent reports about Barron Trump, from reports on his dating life to suggestions that his father could put him on the board of something like TikTok. And according to People, the youngest Trump is interested in business. “Barron has been actively working on his own financial interests and has spent time with others who he is involved with in that area,” a source said.
A recently surfaced 2018 interview with Sean Hannity gives us insight into Melania’s relationship with her son. “I protect him, and I want to give him a life as normal as possible,” she said during her husband’s first term. “This is not a normal life. But I like to give him a normal life and protect him and give him the life that he deserves.”
“He’s very happy, he’s strong, he’s tough. He’s enjoying life in Washington,” the first lady said. When she was asked if her son took after her or the President, she responded: “He has both qualities. He has a soft, beautiful heart, but he’s a fighter, too. He’s very strong.”
