Hollywood golden age sweetheart Barbara Eden recently made a rare appearance outside her San Fernando Valley home in Los Angeles this week. She kept it simple and comfy with a cozy white sweater, sunglasses, and trainers. The I Dream Of Jeannie actress was accompanied by a friend as they strolled the street.
Eden started her acting career a decade before her breakthrough role as Jeannie in the popular NBC sitcom. She was a sketch performer on The Johnny Carson Show in the mid-50s, after years of performing as a child, singing in choir, and participating in beauty pageants.
Eden takes it easy as she ages
After a good career run as an actress, Eden now prefers the tranquil life with her third husband, Jon Eicholtz. Eden and Jon, who is an architect and real estate developer, have been married for over 30 years. The pair share a labradoodle pooch named Bentley, who was seen out with the film icon in March.
Eden, who turned 92 in August, credits her graceful aging to taking things slow. “Sometimes one is forced to slow down, but I’ll do what I do until I can’t,” she said with a laugh. She also eats lots of healthy protein and vegetables and indulges her sweet tooth with gumdrops. “We don’t stint ourselves on desserts. I eat a lot. I like dessert. I like gumdrops. Those are fun,” she said, adding that she stays active by walking.
Fans gush over Eden’s tea-time look
Eden was present at the Remus Pre Award Tea Time event in March, wearing a navy silk top, black slacks, and matching heels. Fans could not get enough of her as she did her signature genie pose on the red carpet, bringing back memories. “92?! I’ve never seen anyone at that age look so good!” someone gushed.
Another fan remarked that Eden certainly takes good care of herself because “she looks so good for her age.” “No cane, no walker, and ramrod street. Cute sporty clothes— unbelievable for 92,” another added. The actress lives up to her idea that age does not stop her from working, as she hopes to write another children’s book soon. “I would like to do another children’s book. I find that it is a true gift that you can give to your child or to other children,” she said.
