A lot of focus has been put on the sitcom, Friends recently. After the death of one of the stars of the show, it seems as if everybody has been looking in that direction.
There’s another reason to consider the show, however, because the other stars are continuing on with life, despite the loss of one of their close friends. David Lawrence Schwimmer is one of those individuals, and you probably know him best as Ross Geller from the sitcom.
David is celebrating his 57th birthday, looking back on the years he spent entertaining us on the sitcom as well as his work directing and producing behind the scenes. He certainly has made a name for himself and continues to do so.
Schwimmer was born on November 2, 1966 in Queens, NYC. Early in life his family relocated to Los Angeles and that would be the key to getting him in front of the camera.
He began by working in summer programs at Northwestern University. Eventually, he would earn his bachelors degree in speech and theater from that same university.
He continued to show an interest in theater, even cofounding the Lookingglass Theater Company with other graduates in Chicago. That was in 1988, and you could really tell he was passionate about the performing arts.
In 1994, however, he was involved in the premiere of a well-known sitcom, Friends and his life has never been the same. In fact, he has become well-known for his role as Ross on that show, and he continues to be friends with the other cast members, including Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, and Matt LeBlanc.
That series was one of the most popular ever on television and it continued until 2004. With the reunion that occurred in 2021, it saw a resurgence of popularity.
Although we know Schwimmer for his work on Friends, he has worked on a number of other projects as well. These include Kissing a Fool, and the Pallbearer. He also worked in the Madagascar animated series as a voice actor.
He has been well rewarded for his career, and it is estimated that he is worth about $130 million. $60 million came from his time on Friends alone. Royalties continue to come in at about $7 million per year.
Now that he is turning 57 years old, he is wondering where he is going from this point forward. It has been quite a journey from the young man he was to the talented actor he is today.
We celebrate the fact that he has found his place in life and has entertained so many people over the years. We also look forward to anything else he has for us in the future.
