When country music gets into the discussion, Carrie Underwood’s name and musical reputation appear in the A-list category. Underwood is famous in the music industry, and one of the things that makes the singer stand out is her very distinctive high-register voice. The singer, born on March 10, 1983, started her career at a young age when she began performing at her church in Muskogee, Oklahoma. However, her win on the hit competition series “American Idol” in 2005 skyrocketed the singer into fame.
Since then, Underwood has continued to dazzle music lovers in showbiz. Regarding her Las Vegas residency in September 2023, the singer’s stylist, Emma Trask, delved into the glam lineups and looks with People. Trask walked the news outlet through the behind-the-scenes of the country singer’s new wardrobe for her residency. However, several fans appeared to be unimpressed with the curated pieces.
The country singer has displayed her singing prowess in most of her songs. After she rose to fame in 2005 when she won the talent show, Underwood did not just stop there but went on to release several successful singles and albums. Some of the amazing singer’s most well-known songs include “Before He Cheats,” “All-American Girl,” and “Jesus, Take The Wheel.” Underwood has received numerous awards and recognition and is one of the most popular female country singers of all time.
While continually displaying her musical abilities, Underwood’s sense of style did not go unnoticed. Right from her days on “American Idol,” the star appeared to favor stylish dresses that displayed her love for vibrant colors.

Underwood made her first official red carpet debut in 2005, according to Us Weekly. She donned a strapless pale pink dress with floral embellishments, which looked stunning. The singer who won the Best Female Country Vocal Performance award at the 2008 Grammy Awards did so in a floral-print Zuhair Murad dress, which exuded charm and class.
One of the singer’s styles that put her mark in the fashion world was the dress she wore to the CMA Awards in November 2010. Underwood looked gorgeous in a tiered Talbot Runhof metallic silver gown, which she paired with a Swarovski crystal clutch. The “American Idol” alum brought on the ‘Lady in Red’ vibe at the 2010 American Country Awards, where she looked every bit of the star that she is in a red Edition by Georges Chakra dress.
The singer showed her versatile range in fashion at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards, where she looked hot in a backless beaded Gomez-Gracia gown. The blonde bombshell continued to serve jaw-dropping pieces on red carpets displaying her preference for sparkly evening dresses, thigh-skimming looks and thigh-high slits. From time to time, she also pays homage to her country background with rhinestone attires, cowboy outfits, and hats.
While Underwood’s looks are in sync with her celebrity status, she also enjoys relatable fashion. Speaking with the publication in 2011, she opened up about her gravitation towards the “every-woman” look. The mom-of-two said that although she loved the voguish fashion that models portray, she tends to lean towards relatable. She mentioned that Reese Witherspoon was her fashion icon because she seemed “approachable,” and they had the same body types.

For her 2023 REFLECTION residency, fans were critical of Underwood’s style switch-up. The singer’s stylist, Trask, explained how the styling team channeled the chic part of fashion. Trask is the founder of Malibu upcycle Atelier, THE CHRYSALIS LAB. The fashion expert styled the country superstar in various outfits and colors, from jumpsuits or a liquid-look silk organza dress to Denim and other outfits that Trask custom-designed for Underwood.
While some of Underwood’s fans were just in support of her music, several others bashed her newly-curated style. On Facebook, fans expressed their displeasure. Someone commented, “I’m a country gal at heart and always enjoyed Carrie Underwood’s music and concerts, but her look and sound has changed so much that I’ve lost interest.” Another person mentioned, “I have always loved her music. One of my all time favorite female artist. Last tour I could not go to watch. Her earlier stuff was much better. She has redefined herself. Not to my liking.”
One wrote, “Not a fan of the new look Carrie! But I love you.” Another person expressed, “Tacky outfit. Her stylist has gotten out of hand.” Someone else commented, “Not in favor of her new look. Miss her the way she was 5-10 years ago— her look, her music. Too much rock, less country for my taste.” Another Facebooker criticized, “Carrie I love your music, but it’s time to dress like a wife and a mother.” One user revealed, “Number 7 is terrible and not very modest to go with her lifestyle and professed faith.”
Underwood is not new to being criticized as a public figure, but the star once shared with Yahoo that she learned to be unperturbed. The vocalist revealed that her mom was her “barometer for everything,” and her approval was most important.
