Communication takes on all different forms. Some of it is verbal but most of it is nonverbal.
That is especially true when you are deaf. You have an entirely different way of communicating, and sometimes it can be difficult when those around you don’t speak the same language.
This fact was recently seen in a beautiful way at a wedding. When you consider a typical wedding, the bride and groom walk down the aisle together as a song is playing.
The groom, Scott Shoesmith was excited to get married but he was walking without hearing the song. You see, he is deaf and his wife, Elizabeth, is not.
They speak well together, despite the fact that he can’t hear the words she is saying. That is why she decided to do something special for him that would allow him to experience every word of the song as it played.
Scott was the first to walk down the aisle and he waited at the altar for his bride to arrive. When he looked down the aisle at Elizabeth, however, she wasn’t walking to meet him.
Elizabeth was allowing the music to play and was signing the song to him. The song that was chosen was “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri
That song is beautiful, but watching Elizabeth sign the words to her future husband made it even more special. At one point, she even stepped toward him and then continued signing as she moved down the aisle.
