We often hear people complaining about the amount of money sports stars are making, but not all of them are making such a big paycheck. In fact, there is one sports star who was complaining about her take-home pay.
Angel Reese is well known for her skills on the court. She plays for Chicago Sky, which is sitting around 10th place in the WNBA standings at this time. At 6’3″, she gets the job done.
Recently, however, Reese has started to talk about the amount of money she makes and in a video, said that she is ‘living beyond her means.’ She spoke about her salary, which is $74,000 annually and said it doesn’t even cover her rent.
“I just hope y’all know, the WNBA doesn’t pay my bills at all. I don’t even think that pays one of my bills. Literally.”
If you think about it, she makes $74,000 a year and her rent is $8000 a month. It’s easy to see why she says she is living beyond her means!
This isn’t the only money that Reese made. In fact, she went to the Victoria’s Secret fashion show afterparty in New York City, where she posed for some pictures. It appears as if she may have been on her way to that show when she made the video.
Many people were divided over her admission that she couldn’t afford her rent. Some were just saying that it would be better if she moved somewhere that was more affordable, with one saying: “Why rent something you can’t afford?”
Others said that it was her fault for signing an $8000 per month lease when she knew that she was only making $74,000 a year. Others were saying that they didn’t like it when somebody complained about their finances when they made such a mistake.
Then again, there were others who said that she should be paid more. They compared it to what was being paid in the NBA, and said that even famous athletes may have some financial struggles.
According to some online estimates, she is worth an estimated $2 million. She also has partnerships with a number of different places, including getting her own line of sneakers with Reebok and a collaboration with Reese’s Pieces.
