One of the happiest times in our lives is when we find out we are pregnant. We are embarking on a new point in life and a project that will last for a lifetime.
Lindsey Parr Gritton was a mother who was very excited about welcoming a new family member and she was only a few weeks away from giving birth. Unfortunately, she was given news that was devastating and it changed her life from that point forward.
When Lindsay was 36 weeks pregnant, she was diagnosed with breast cancer. It happened in April 2022 when she was pregnant with her second child and she had a burning sensation in her breast. She thought it was a clogged duct or something similar, and not much was suspected.
After she requested an ultrasound, she was given a different diagnosis. In reality, she actually felt that she saved her life by asking for the ultrasound and being her own advocate. Within a few days, she was told that the lump was suspected to be cancerous.
After this news, she had some tests done and found out she had a very aggressive type of breast cancer. It was devastating to friends and family, and surprising because there was no cancer at all in the family.
She was then given the news that she had six months to live only one week after her daughter was born. They told her that there was nothing that could be done because the cancer had spread and she had more than a dozen tumors in her liver.
The good news is, that she was able to get treatment and eventually, she was cancer-free. She said that she tried to do everything she could to live in the moment up until that time, from scrapbooking to making videos.
By the time her treatment was finished, it showed that the cancer was gone completely. She called it crazy and surreal.
Now that a year and a half has passed since the first diagnosis, she is feeling great. She loves being with her family and cherishes every moment.
She also is hoping to share her story to raise awareness of breast cancer in young adults. Some of the videos that she has posted to TikTok have become very popular and gone viral.
We hope that she has many years of happiness with her family and that her efforts to help others are very successful.
