Jenna Dewan slams Channing Tatum and demands 50% of his Magic Mike profits as bitter divorce unfolds

Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan officially filed for divorce in 2018, but are still negotiating how their assets will be divided up

Jenna Dewan has demanded 50 percent of Channing Tatum’s earnings from the Magic Mike franchise in the couple’s divorce.

Dewan accused ex Tatum of trying to ‘blur the lines’ of how much of the Magic Mike money she is entitled as the pair’s divorce proceedings grind on.

court filing from May 8 detailed that lawyers representing Dewan wanted to start a separate trial from the main to figure out exactly how much of the money from the franchise she is entitled to.

Then once this has been confirmed in court, they can then move onto the main proceedings and deal with all the other assets the pair have.

Magic Mike became a hit movie in 2012, leading to a number of sequels as well as a spin-off reality TV show and even an attraction in Las Vegas.

Tatum starred in and produced the movie and has become one of the roles he is most widely known for.

But now, Dewan’s lawyers are claiming that because the franchise began when they were married she is entitled to half.

The filing referred to Magic Mike as a ‘story idea’, saying it was “an intellectual property asset that was entirely created during the marriage.”

Her lawyers also claim that Tatum, 44, ‘transferred a portion’ of the ‘community’ profits from Magic Mike into a third party without her knowledge or consent.

Tatum has denied the allegation.

Dewan’s lawyers said: “Jenna contends that Channing, with the participation and assistance of his business manager and other associates has created a complex web of LLCs, holding companies, and partnerships, all of which are calculated to dilute and conceal the value of, and licensing income therefrom, the community property share of Magic Mike intellectual property and derivative assets.”

Tatum’s lawyers are opposed to beginning a separate filing to deal with the assets associated with Magic Mike.

The actor has also denied the allegations that he tried to ‘blur the lines’ around how much of the Magic Mike money Dewan is entitled to.

In a statement lawyers representing Tatum said that he “never denied her share of any community assets or income”, adding that “her claims that I have ‘colluded with third parties’ are completely false.”

The statement continued: “She has had complete access to all our financial records for all activities during our marriage and since separation.

“I continue to provide her with updates regarding Magic Mike financial matters.”
