Taylor Swift is no stranger to breaking records, from her award wins to generating millions in tour ticket sales, as she wows the globe with her Eras tour.
Yet now her fans are the ones creating record breaking activity, as those attending her Los Angeles performance at SoFi stadium have created earthquake like activity as they danced, stomped, jumped and bounced their way through Swift’s show.

According to Pop Crave on X (formerly known as Twitter), it reported: “Fans at Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ show at the SoFi Stadium on August 5th caused earthquake-like activity, a Caltech & UCLA study finds. The strongest tremor was equivalent to a magnitude-2 earthquake.”
According to the official reports, researchers found that each Swift song had a distinctive tremor signal. 43 of the 45 songs played generated activity, but the songs varied considerably in magnitude, with “Shake It Off” coming in at the largest local magnitude of 0.851. Gabrielle Tepp of Caltech explained: “Keep in mind this energy was released over a few minutes compared to a second for an earthquake of that size. Based on the maximum strength of shaking, the strongest tremor was equivalent to a magnitude -2 earthquake.”
Earlier this month Swifties were left worried for their favourite singer as she appeared to struggle through her set. Performing in Singapore, a new video of Swift singing her hit song ‘Delicate’ to Singapore fans shows the 34-year-old pausing to cough several times.
Fans took to social media to share their concern for the singer, as one said: “Hope she’s okay. She’s been coughing.”
Another added: “Oooh no she needs some rest”.
“She was coughing during our show too,” said a third.

Others suggested that the changes in weather she’s been experiencing while jetting around the globe might have contributed to her coughing episode.
Apparently Swift’s team goes above and beyond for the star while she’s on tour to ensure she doesn’t get ill, even permanently cancelling meet-and-greets with fans following the pandemic.
A source told Yahoo Lifestyle of the singer’s strict regime: “When Taylor is on tour, strict measures are put into place to stop her interacting with anyone outside of her ‘bubble’. They can not risk her getting sick under any circumstances.
“Going on a world tour may sound exciting, but the reality of it is each day just consists of going from a hotel room to the venue and repeat.”
