The NBA are looking into reports of one of its basketball stars having an inappropriate relationship with a minor.
In recent days there have been social media posts of Oklahoma City Thunder’s Josh Giddey, 21, with a girl who was claiming to have had sex with the basketball player.
It’s unclear how old the girl is, but there is speculation that she is underage.
In one snap, Giddey is topless and flashing two peace signs at the camera next to the girl.
She captioned the photo: “Just f**ked Josh Giddey.”
Another snap of him with a girl – who is believed to be the same one in the other photo – sees the 21-year-old stood behind her while resting his chin on her head and his arm wrapped around her.
The posts have since been deleted.
Giddey was asked about the allegations he’s facing after basketball practice yesterday (24 November).
He replied: “I understand the question obviously, but there’s no further comment right now.”
Elsewhere, Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault said it was a ‘personal matter’ and that he wouldn’t be commenting on it either.
“That’ll be my answer on anything related,” Daigneault added.
In light of the accusations Giddey is facing, the NBA has confirmed that its looking into the matter.
NBA spokesman Mike Bass said, as per MailOnline: “The NBA is looking into the allegations of Oklahoma City’s Josh Giddey having inappropriate relationship with a minor that have emerged via social media.”
UNILAD has contacted Oklahoma City Thunder and the NBA for comment.
Giddey has removed his profile picture from Instagram and disabled the comments on his page in the wake of the allegations he’s facing.
He’s previously labeled the social media world as being ‘tough’.
In an interview with GQ Australia, whom he was the cover star for in September, Giddey said: “Social media can be a tough place to be in sometimes. When it’s time to get off for a little bit, I just hand it off.
“I think it was just a good way to not get distracted and not worry about outside noise and just focus on what was important.”
As well as Instagram, Giddey has a large presence on TikTok – so much so that some people know him more for his videos than his basketball playing.
“There are people who know me as Josh the TikToker and not, you know, as a basketball player,” he told GQ.
“It definitely does help me connect with people.”
It’s unclear if Giddey will be playing today’s (25 November) game against Philadelphia 76ers following the claims against him.
