EV Owner Demands Answers After Car Catches Fire On Freeway

As the craze surrounding electric vehicles has picked up over the past several years, the media has been plagued with headlines of these battery-powered cars dangerously erupting in flames.  Such events have contributed to the overall consumer skepticism surrounding these relatively new vehicles and the potential flaws associated with owning them.

In May of this year, Bishal Malla, a Tesla Model Y owner, had a terrifying experience on a California highway when his EV burst into a smoldering fire on the shoulder of the road.  Malla has persistently sought answers from Tesla and other Democrat leaders for the catastrophe, but according to his social media activity, it doesn’t appear he has received any.

“My Tesla Y caught fire on Saturday, May 6 at the California hwy. I was driving on a ramp to enter the freeway when I hear a noise from the bottom. I opened my door and saw smoke coming from the bottom. It’s been 2 weeks and not a single follow up. I need answers,” the post on X read.

Malla also shared a second video showing the fire growing progressively worse, engulfing the entire vehicle.  Malla has directly appealed to Elon Musk, California Governor Gavin Newsom, and even Joe Biden, asking for answers.  Democrat politicians have been carrying the EV agenda, creating legislation that many feel is aimed at coercing consumers beyond free market mechanisms into ditching traditional gas-powered vehicles.  For example, Gavin Newsom’s California passed legislation banning the sale of new gas-powered cars by 2035.

Malla further pleaded for answers about the traumatizing event.  The owner of the torched Model Y also criticized EVs, illustrating how he has never had to deal with such a disaster with any of the several gas-powered vehicles he has owned.
“@GavinNewsom @JoeBiden @POTUS I need answers from Tesla plz. Is my life so cheap that it keeps happening and they just simply don’t care and hold no responsibility. I’m physically exhausted and mentally devastated and traumatized. I need answer from Elon Musk and Tesla please,” Malla continued.

“How many gas cars has he had? 3 How many EVs has he had? 1 How many of the gas cars caught fire? 0 How many of the EVs caught fire? 1 and that’s also in the very first year of driving. I don’t care what data you want to show but all I need is an accountability n assurance,” he stated.

Malla lambasted the experience he had dealing with Tesla customer service.  He further insisted that while the cost of the vehicle would be covered by insurance, he demanded an explanation from Tesla on the fiery incident.  Ultimately, Malla maintains that he wants to help prevent others from having to endure the same experience he did9

“One agent I talked to had an audacity to tell me to take my fully burned Tesla to the Tesla recommended servicing center,” Malla commented on Reddit. “How in the world am I going to do that?”  He added, “Yes, insurance will cover the car, but I need to hear from Tesla.  All I need is the answer from them and protect others to not go through the same issue.”
